SEA 197-SPA Walking the Camino de Santiago in Spain (Tracy Dinesen & Lau Cesarco Eglin); No ECC designations The Camino de Santiago is an ancient pilgrimage route that traces the path that St. James took to Spain as part of his crusade. This route remains sacred to modern pilgrims and provides an opportunity for deep reflection and spiritual growth, regardless of one’s religious affiliation. This course allows students to walk a portion of the Camino and requires them to develop personal goals for their pilgrimage. Readings range from medieval to modern day documentation (fiction and non-fiction) of pilgrimage. Prior to departure students will create a personalized pilgrimage plan and during their pilgrimage they will keep a reflective journal. This course is physically demanding requiring up to 16 miles of walking per day over rough terrain. Priority application deadline for May Term 2019: Tuesday, October 2, 2018. Selection decisions announced via email from the OIE for applications received by the priority deadline: Tuesday, October 9, 2018. Applications received after October 2 will be processed on a rolling basis. Those selection decisions will be announced approximately two weeks after the application is submitted.
